Solar- und Windenergie f\u00fchren h\u00e4ufig zu Energie\u00fcbersch\u00fcssen, wodurch eine zuverl\u00e4ssige Langzeitspeicherung zu einer zentralen Herausforderung wird. Die direkte Speicherung von Wasserstoff (H\u2082) als Energietr\u00e4ger ist zwar technisch m\u00f6glich, st\u00f6\u00dft jedoch aufgrund der physikalischen Eigenschaften des Gases \u2013 wie hoher Fl\u00fcchtigkeit, Explosionsgefahr und komplexen Anforderungen an die Druckspeicherung \u2013 auf erhebliche Einschr\u00e4nkungen.<\/p>\n<p>Eine innovative und zukunftsweisende Alternative zur direkten Wasserstoffspeicherung ist die Umwandlung von Wasserstoff in Ammoniak (NH\u2083). Bei diesem Verfahren wird Wasserstoff mit Stickstoff (N\u2082) \u2013 einem Bestandteil der Luft \u2013 zu Ammoniak verbunden. Das dabei entstehende Ammoniak liegt bei Temperaturen unter -33 \u00b0C in fl\u00fcssiger Form vor, ist nicht explosiv und weist eine deutlich h\u00f6here Energiedichte auf. Dadurch l\u00e4sst es sich wesentlich einfacher und sicherer lagern und transportieren als reiner Wasserstoff.<\/p>\n<p>Um den gespeicherten Wasserstoff bei Bedarf nutzen zu k\u00f6nnen, wird das Ammoniak in einem als \u201eCracking\u201c bezeichneten Verfahren thermisch gespalten. Bei diesem Verfahren entstehen Wasserstoff und Stickstoff.
