Energy storage for electromobility

By using electric motors in efficient vehicles and with sustainable propulsion systems, CO₂ emissions from transport can be reduced. Mems takes part in the development of the important battery management system in electromobility.

For the electrical energy to be stored in the battery modules, an intelligent Battery Management System (or BMS for short) is required. Amongst other things, this ensures that the individual battery cells are not overloaded and that the cell voltages are as balanced as possible. It also monitors the temperature of the battery modules.

The modules are produced in Switzerland and Mems AG is involved in the electronic development of the BMS on behalf of a customer.

For a few months now, the Regionale Verkehrsbetriebe Baden-Wettingen [Baden-Wettingen Regional Transport Services] (RVBW) have been successfully operating a first pilot bus line (Line 8) with an electric bus. A second bus line (Line 5) will follow shortly with four electric buses.
